Hawaii Directory

Hawaii is the 50th state of the United States and was formed by volcanoes arising from the sea floor. This is called a ‘hotspot’ and is particularly impressed as most of the flora and fauna has arrived to the islands by the Three W’s: Wind, Wings, and Waves.

The Hawaiian Islands are made up of several smaller islands, (Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai and the popular Maui) as well as what is nicknamed “The Big Island”, Hawaii. The islands are home to some of the best surfing beaches in the world, with turquoise waters, silky sand and not a day that’s too cold to swim. Snorkelling and scuba diving is also popular on all of the islands to view the tropical fish that live beneath the waters.

The Big Island is also home to the world’s longest continually erupting volcano – but don’t worry, you won’t get hurt. Many visitors to the island take a tour or a hike around the erupting volcano. For amazing vistas, drive down Highway 11, which skirts the undulating lava fields of the Ka'u Desert between Volcanoes National Park and the tiny southern town of Na'alehu.
